Description

Quite a cool nebula in Scorpius that I've never imaged before and weighed up whether to frame this horizontally or vertically.
Ended up going horizintal to include the little star cluster NGC6242 to the right and some interesting bok globules similar to the tadpoles nebula in the top right hand corner.
I find it fascinating to zoom in and poke around in my images, especially with drizzled data, there's always something lurking!
Found this tiny, almost invisible planetary nebula (the tiny blue dot in the included image) designated PN G344.2 +0.16.
Screen Shot 2023-09-20 at 4.45.50 pm.png
Couldn't find much on it but instead stumbled across an exhaustive paper written by Susanne Hoffman, that referenced it with not much known otherwise!
https://arxiv.org/pdf/2006.00977.pdf, the paper itself is a great read.

There's a total of 13 hours in this image, 5 hours in Ha with 4 hours each in Sii and Oiii.
Not sure how much more time I can get before these beautiful nebulae slip behind the trees but there's always next season!
